Telamco's exclusive affiliation with The Bergquist Company enables us to offer HeatSeal® technology to low and mid-volume membrane switch users. HeatSeal® technology allows our switches to operate in environments where pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) switches often fail. HeatSeal® is a registered trademark of The Bergquist Company.
Telamco's custom-designed equipment is engineered specifically to process HeatSeal® materials. The thermal processes used in the fabrication of HeatSeal® switches use heat and pressures to produce a true hermetic seal. The adhesive bond produced in the HeatSeal® process is superior to that of PSA construction found in other switches. The HeatSeal® bond effectively seals out harmful environmental contaminants that can cause failure in standard PSA switches. Because air neither enters nor escapes a HeatSeal® switch external venting is not required even when subjected to changes in temperature or atmospheric pressure.
The nature of the HeatSeal® switch allows more freedom and flexibility in engineering designs. Some manufacturers promote protection from moisture ingression by adding real estate to the perimeter of their switches. A HeatSeal® switch protects against moisture ingression, cleaning solutions and other chemicals with as little as .080" border.
At the design stage, not every environmental condition under which the membrane switch will operate is known. Even in a benign office environment, the spilt beverage that could disable a PSA switch will have no adverse affect on the HeatSeal® switch. The smart decision is to design in safeguards against the unknown with HeatSeal® . |
